Intuitive Shower Birth at Home | Southwest Florida Birth Story
Being just 20 minutes from Acacia’s house, I was the first birth team member to arrive. When I stepped into the bathroom, she was already deep in labor—Jamie, her midwife, on speakerphone, and her sweet pup standing guard like a true doggy doula.
Her husband Andrew wore the biggest smile, moving between the bedroom and bathroom, checking in on her and preparing the birth space with intention. It wasn’t long before Acacia’s mom arrived, followed closely by Jamie. With her full support team finally in place, she began to push.
While Acacia had planned a water birth in the tub, the shower became her sanctuary. The warm water brought the relief she needed. Andrew, without hesitation, joined her in the shower, offering steady, loving support as they welcomed their third baby earthside.
Already parents to two daughters, they were overjoyed to learn this new little love was a boy. Acacia had instinctively referred to him as “he” even before knowing for sure—and the moment she brought him up to her chest and confirmed, it felt beautifully full circle. A daughter would have been equally celebrated, but holding her son for the first time was a moment she’ll never forget.
